Mount Caburn Near Lewes Limited Edition Print by Eric Ravilious

Ravilious painted this watercolour of Mount Caburn in 1934. Situated between Lewes and Glynde, Caburn is a particularly distinctive hill as it was once an iron age hill fort. Iconic of the South Downs landscape, this peaceful, pastoral scene depicts farm labourers working the land with a traditional horse and plough. Ravilious painted this scene while staying at nearby Furlongs with his friend Peggy Angus.
